Search Strategy Research Paper
search strategy, i have attached everything needed for the assignment
Part 1.
Based on the PICOT question (For nurses working with populations at risk for Covid-19 infection (P), how does use of cloth masks (I) compare to use of medical masks (C) for droplet transmission prevention (O) while wearing during a 12-hour shift (T)?), the search was conducted using PubMed database. The search terms were: droplet, transmission, cloth, medical, mask, and infection. These search terms were derived from the PICOT question.
Part 2.
The search terms were used in the search of PubMed database with the initial results refined to publications in the last five years. The results were for 11 publications. The search was further refined to publications in the last one year with the results being ten publications. Search Strategy Research Paper.

Part 4.
The search was conducted on PubMed database. The specific search terms were: droplet; transmission; cloth; medical; mask; and infection. All the search terms were included in the search bar with no Boolean operators applied. The initial generalized search was conducted with the filter set at articles published in the last five years. The search results presented eleven articles. The search was further refined with the publication data revised to articles published in the last one year. With the filter applied, the search results presented ten articles. All the search results were useful for answering the PICOT question since they sought to explore the effectiveness of different mask materials in preventing the diffusion of aerosol droplets. Besides that, the articles are specifically targeted at addressing Covid-19 virus transmission through aerosol drops from the nose and mouth thus making the articles useful for answering the PICOT question.
The ANA Position Statement and Class PICOT Question
The statement image below was tweeted by the American Nurses Association (ANA) in March 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The ANA’s position is that cloth masks are not suitable protection for nurses who work with the public. As everyone in the class are nurses and Covid-19 is a global concern, each person in the class already has some knowledge of this topic.
While Evidence-Based Decision Making (EBDM) might explore unfamiliar interventions that could lead to practice change, that does not mean that the starting point or current policy is wrong. Search Strategy Research Paper. Sometimes EBDM simply confirms what we were doing as the best current option.
Using the above position expressed by the ANA as some of the background information, the class will use the steps of EBDM to either confirm or refute this official position as best practice. (Other background information to familiarize yourself with—if you are not already acutely aware—would be what Covid-19 is, how it is transmitted, and masking shortages and trends.)

EBDM is a process that stems from a question. Moving forward, the class will learn the EBDM Steps through assignments in which everyone uses the same clinical question. Therefore, everyone will utilize the following class PICOT question for assignments in this and upcoming modules:
For nurses working with populations at risk for Covid-19 infection (P), how does use of cloth masks (I) compare to use of medical masks (C) for droplet transmission prevention (O) while wearing during a 12-hour shift (T)?
