Under this essential in nursing, I am expected to apply ethical principles while executing my duties as a nurse, which is important to patient health outcomes. I learned about ethical principles such as altruism, patient autonomy, respect, beneficence, and non-maleficence, and how to apply them as a nurse. In hindsight, I believe that this nursing essential was instrumental in helping me achieve the course objective of examining the ethical and legal practices in nursing.
