According to Parekh (2019), psychotherapy, also referred to as talk therapy, is a term used to characterize treating mental health conditions by speaking with a psychiatrist, psychologist, or other mental health providers. Patients can gain control over their lives by learning more about their conditions, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors through psychotherapy. According to Portefield (2023), since biology is the scientific study of life, psychotherapy has a biological foundation.
