The triangulation of evidence-based practice is the “use of more than one approach to researching a question. The objective is to increase confidence in the findings through the confirmation of a proposition using two or more independent measures†(Heale & Forbes, 2013, para. 1). Health Promotion
A well-balanced diet is important to incorporate for patients of all ages. Obesity or a BMI >30 can lead to a variety of health problems which may otherwise be avoidable. A regular exercise routine is also important, especially as we grow older. Exercise releases chemicals with can reduce stress and depression. This patient should have a height and weight documented as part of the physical so BMI can be calculated to determine is this is a concern that requires additional health promotion education. Men should also be asked about any alcohol or nicotine use. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention “many chronic diseases are caused by a short list of risk behaviors: tobacco use, poor nutrition, physical inactivity, and excessive alcohol use†(2022, para. 1). This is the age when they need to also have preventive screening of the prostate and colon. These are important to early detection of any possible abnormalities including cancer. Lab work should be done to evaluate cholesterol and check for potentially elevated blood sugar levels which could indicate diabetes. Promoting Health For Adults Essay
It is also important to review their medical record related to family history, any preexisting diagnosis, and ethnicity. Certain ethnicities and genders are more likely to develop specific medical problems.
