Professional Nursing and State-Level Regulations
Administrative rules should be revised when there is a need to do so. There should be no exact timing of revision and any change should entirely depend on the concerns and the issues being raised by the people in the state. For instance, in New Mexico, there are set standards through which rules are made and which begins with the publication of the notice to make the rule in the State Register (Thomson, 2024). The rules only take a short duration of time to make. Thus, there is no need to set strict timing to revise the rules as long as they remain viable and helpful to the citizens of the state. I believe ten years is a long time to revise the rules. This is because as the population increases, technologies change, and operations increase the rules should also be revised to meet the increasing needs of the people. However, some rules might remain in operation even after ten years depending on their effectiveness to the people of New Mexico (Mukkamalla, 2023). The use of research and evidence in the development of administrative rules in the state is an important practice. This is because; through the use of research and evidence there is a chance to learn new things and also to discover better ways of doing things. This is because research involves the study and evaluation of existing literature and gaps that will allow evaluation of new ways of making rules and also in discovering the modern rules and their applications. However, there may be an issue with using research and evidence in coming up with rules for the state since it becomes hard to generalize rules from other states or regions to this state (Dagne, 2021). However, through the use of credible and unbiased sources and professional teamwork, there is a chance of making better rules using research and evidence.
