Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy approach applied in both individual and group settings to manage problems by focusing on ways of thinking and behaving. Although CBT is used in both settings, there are significant differences. The choice of CBT use in both settings is because it is practical and cost-effective. However, the use is more cost-effective in a group setting as it engages more people simultaneously in the same session. This differs from an individual setting that can only engage one person in one session. In addition, CBT use in the group setting presents therapeutic advantages not present in the individual setting, including peer support as members learn from and support each other, greater self-awareness as members become more aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and principle of universality as the members understand that the issues and problems are not unique to them (Lawson et al., 2022). CBT use in the individual setting presents some unique advantages that may not be presented in the group setting. The individual setting has greater flexibility, making it easier to schedule therapy sessions as it only involves an individual, unlike a group setting, which may require a group of people to coordinate to have a session. Besides that, CBT use in individual therapy offers greater confidentiality and privacy when compared to the group setting. Members of a group setting may not be bound by confidentiality and privacy expectations. Furthermore, persons who attend individual therapy can receive personal attention from the therapist, allowing for a solid therapeutic alliance and more intense therapy (Neufeld et al., 2020)Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Assignment Discussion.
Explain at least two challenges PMHNPs might encounter when using CBT in one of these settings.
A PMHNP may encounter two challenges when using CBT in a group setting. First, the group setting has many personalities, and some members may dominate and monopolize the conversation, depriving the other group members of the opportunity to contribute to the group discussions. Second, some members may find it easier to be passive in group conversations, choosing to be silent and hide. This may deprive them of the opportunity to contribute to the group (Melero et al., 2021).
Explain why each of your supporting sources is considered scholarly and attach the PDFs of your sources.
The journal articles are used as sources. They are scholarly sources. First, these articles are written and authored by experts on the subject, with their credentials identifying them as experts. Second, the information is logically presented in a context that lacks bias and appeals to a sense of logic. Third, the article has a scientific format with citations and references to verify the presented information. Fourth, the articles are published in peer-reviewed journals. Finally, the information is current as the articles are published in the last five years. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Assignment Discussion

NRNP-6645- week 5 Discussion
There are significant differences in the applications of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) for families and individuals. The same is true for CBT in group settings and CBT in family settings. In your role, it is essential to understand these differences to appropriately apply this therapeutic approach across multiple settings. For this Discussion, as you compare the use of CBT in individual, group, and family settings, consider challenges of using this approach with groups you may lead, as well as strategies for overcoming those challenges.
