The national culturally and linguistically appropriate services standards (CLAS) are important areas of operations that enhance the establishment of healthcare-based equity and equality, improving quality and helping reduce healthcare disparities. Healthcare is a diverse setting that has interactions among patients, care providers, and several agencies. All these different stakeholders play a crucial role in enhancing better and quality patient care (HHS.Gov, 2023). Thus, there is a need to have quality and equity in healthcare facilities for better service delivery. Advocacy and Cultural Competence Assignment Paper

Through the areas of nursing practice together with my peers, we are able to put into practice these standards. For instance, communication is an important standard that ensures we have better skills for communicating and also makes sure those who do not understand English can be directed to an interpreter for better understanding. Accountability is an important part of the organization and is enhanced through having transparent and digital systems of operations to ensure one is responsible for their actions. We are also using these standards to fully understand the nature of leadership and governance in the organization. Through the aspects of equity, quality service, and eliminating health disparities then most of the unmet goals can be reached (Toney-Butler, 2022). Advocacy and Cultural Competence Assignment Paper

One nursing action that can be incorporated to include cultural competence in my organization is health education. Providing health education serves as a critical method that helps patients learn better about their health conditions and the solutions to be provided (Toney-Butler, 2022). Also, a nurse educator can be useful to colleagues that have little or poor understanding of English. Through health education, cultural differences are reduced since everyone will be understanding the language and this will help improve better communication (HHS.Gov, 2023).

National CLAS is therefore a crucial way through which equity can be enhanced among care providers. In addition, it is important to enhance health education to the patients, families, and also the care providers. Advocacy and Cultural Competence Assignment Paper
