Final Status Report Template Essay Assignment
TASK 1
Complete the “Final Status Report Template” including the following components:
Conduct a wrap-up session with stakeholders. Obtain recommendations from the team on lessons learned and next steps. In your e-portfolio, write a reflection on the successes and challenges from the implementation of your HIP. What lessons did you learn? What would you do differently next time? Include a summary on how your project advances nursing practice? Final Status Report Template Essay Assignment
Now, there’s just a little (okay…a lot) more writing to do…but you’ve DONE the initiation, planning, and implementation of your project. Now you will evaluate your successes (and near-successes) as well as reflecting on what you’ve learned…and what you MIGHT do moving forward! Remember, you’ll still be evaluated on professional communication and APA formatting…so keep focused with your writing just as you have been all along. There’s not much new here…you have everything you need to complete this last task.
Evaluation of the Project
A. Evaluate the effectiveness of your goal and project outcome by doing the following:
1. Compare the results of two key performance indicators (KPIs) to the SMART+C goal and outcome statement you developed in Appendix D to determine the success of the project. You will want to re-introduce your SMART+C goal (be sure it’s aligned with its dates to your actual implementation dates) and your goal outcome statement and compare those to your two KPI”s! Was the project a success?
2. Explain how you implemented your project efficiently and effectively by providing an example of each of the following components:
A2a: a method used for efficiency in the project implementation: Here, the evaluator will be looking for a specific way you might measure if your project was completed efficiently! Here’s a link to some methods that you might choose (I’d only pick ONE – the timeline review is a good way to evaluate efficiency!) …. https://www.projectmanager.com/blog/5-ways-to-measure-project-success
A2b: a result demonstrating the effectiveness of your project implementation Based on the efficiency method you used in A2a, think about one successful result from your timeline…was your management of that item effective? Final Status Report Template Essay Assignment
3. Compare the projected timeline to the actual implementation and determine if the project stayed on schedule. Explain the methods used to keep the project on schedule and the factors that caused delays. Think about your timeline…did everything finish by it’s planned end date? If so, how did you manage that? If there were items on your timeline that didn’t finish before or on the planned end date, what caused the delays? Could you (and how might you have) planned for that potential delay?
4. Compare the projected budget to the actual implementation costs and determine if the project stayed on budget. Explain the methods for cost containment and any cause of variance between the projected budget and the actual costs. Compare your pro-forma budget in D157 to your actual budget…were they different? Were they above or below the budget? Revisit how you planned to manage your variances in the D157 content and explain why the variances occurred. How did you contain costs to keep them at or near your pro-forma budget?
B. Submit the “Final Status Report” that you completed during your (TASK 1), which should include the following elements: This will be in the appendix as appendix K…so you will send the reader to Appendix K to view the “Final Status Report” …it needs to include the following…
B1: a project summary with the report date, name of the project, and name of the person who prepared the report
B2: a description of the purpose of your healthcare improvement project (HIP)
B3: project milestones, including a major task and accomplishment for each phase of the project management life cycle
B4: a budget overview with the total budget, the total spent, the difference between the two totals (if any), and a reason for the results
B5: project KPIs with a summary of project performance in meeting the KPIs
B6: a project outcome with a discussion of the efficiency and effectiveness of implementing your project, along with a conclusion to this section stating whether your project was successful or not in meeting your overall HIP goals and outcome
Project Closure
C. Discuss the processes you used to close your project and describe how you celebrated the completion of your HIP. Be sure to review pg.’s 19-21 from your Course of Study…it’s all about the process of closing your project. The evaluator will want to read about how you closed your project…Be sure to discuss how you closed and ensured delivery of your final deliverables (evaluation and dissemination tasks) and how you completed your final project sign-off with leadership in addition to the lessons-learned in your project.
D. Describe the wrap-up session you held with the project champions and key stakeholders, including details of your team’s recommendations, lessons learned, and next steps. Be sure to refer the reader to the appendix to view the final status report. Redundant, yes…but bring that discussion here about whether you met your KPI’s and goal! Be sure to add in the “celebration” you plan to have (or have had) to congratulate the staff on a job well done! Final Status Report Template Essay Assignment
Conclusion
E. Write a conclusion that reiterates the rationale and purpose of your project, including how your improvement project addresses a need for a quality change, innovation, or improvement.
Note: Your conclusion should not present new information; rather, it should provide new insight and offer creative approaches to guide future work in this area. This is your subjective conclusion of the project you’ve completed. If you met your goal or not…where might the project lead? Like the note says…be creative!
E1. Discuss the factors that facilitated or impeded the adoption of this improvement project, including specific examples. Remember, way back in D156 task 2 (F3) you discussed some external regulatory or compliance factors they might impede or facilitate your project… so, you can bring this forward and discuss how that factor could support the adoption of your project moving forward (as a new, accepted protocol). Are there any other factors, now that you’ve closed the project, that lend argument to its continuance (or adoption organization wide) of your project? If it was really successful in reaching your goal, then discuss how this would encourage the organization to continue the project or expand it! Did the staff really become engaged in the project? This could be another factor that would support it’s moving forward and its adoption as a new practice. Crow a little bit here!
E2. Discuss how this improvement project is significant to the role of a nurse leader. Now that you’ve successfully completed and closed the project…how is this improvement project significant to the role of the nurse leader? Do you feel the project is a good example of the power of nursing leadership to spearhead and address problems on a continuum? How important is nursing leadership in lending support to projects of this type? Final Status Report Template Essay Assignment
I usually recommend subheadings…the evaluators will see you’ve addressed everything asked of you!
