Key Factors That Affect Access And Quality of Health Care Essay

There are a number of key factors that affect one’s access to and quality of health care in the United States. Perhaps the most important of these is income. Those with higher incomes are more likely to have access to better quality health care, both in terms of the insurance they can afford and the providers they can see (Khullar & Chokshi, 2018). People in the United States that have relatively higher incomes are more likely to have private health insurance, which gives them more choice in doctors and hospitals. They can also afford to pay for more expensive treatments. They are also more likely to live in areas with better hospitals and more specialists. This is not to say that there are no quality health care options for those with lower incomes, but they are often less comprehensive and more expensive. Curley (2019) has stated that minorities are more likely to have worse access to health care and to receive lower quality care. This is due to a number of factors, including economic status, insurance status, education, and geographic location. minorities are more likely to be poor, which means they are less likely to have private health insurance. They are also more likely to live in areas with fewer hospitals and specialists. They may also have less education, which can make it harder to navigate the health care system. Geography and race play a significant role in accessing quality care in the United States. Studies have shown that people of color and those living in rural areas are more likely to receive lower quality care than their white and urban counterparts. This is due to a variety of factors, including disparities in income and education, which can lead to disparities in access to care. For example, people of color are more likely to live in poverty than whites, and poverty is associated with lower quality of care. In addition, people of color are more likely to be uninsured than whites, which also leads to lower quality of care. Finally, racial discrimination in the healthcare system also plays a role in lower quality of care for people of color. All of these factors contribute to the disparities in quality of care that are seen in the United States.

Those who are uninsured have worse access to health care and receive lower quality care. This is because they cannot afford to pay for care out of pocket and they don’t have the same access to preventive care and screenings (Shi & Singh, 2022). They are also more likely to delay seeking care because of the cost. Those with less education have worse access to health care and receive lower quality care. This is because they may not understand how to navigate the health care system. They may also have trouble understanding instructions from doctors and other health care providers.
