In the United States, the most common tobacco product smoked can be E-cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and cigarillos. However, vaping is gaining more popularity in pods, vaporizers, and JUUL. Despite efforts to reduce smoking, approximately 40 million adults smoke cigarettes, with an estimated 2.55 million being middle and high school children (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2022). The smoke produced by the tobacco is inhaled into the lungs, which gradually causes harm and thus reduces its functionality. Individuals using tobacco products are most likely to suffer from chronic conditions, including lung cancer, heart diseases, stroke, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (Omare et al., 2021). Additionally, the prevalence of these conditions among tobacco users may lead to premature deaths. As such, I support that introducing the HR 8202 117^TH congress Preventing Vape Use Act will be impactful in reducing tobacco use in the country, thus preventing adverse health conditions and reducing mortality rates. The state, local, and federal legislators are responsible for promoting health by implementing policies that safeguard citizens. Introducing the preventive vape use act will help prevent detrimental health outcomes associated with electronic tobacco smoking (Congress. gov, 2022). While the focus is to mitigate inhaled tobacco through electronic systems, I believe implementing other policies that mitigate tobacco use is essential for improving health outcomes. For example, the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act helps address tobacco use by allowing the regulation of cigarettes, pipe tobacco, and e-cigarettes, among others, by the FDA. This includes prohibiting retail sales of the product for adults below 18 years. Thus with the policies, tobacco use will gradually decrease, which impacts health outcomes.

In2022 , the country needs to redouble its efforts to pass the proven policies called for ” State of Tobacco Control” to help end tobacco use.
