Reflection

In attending the course, I had the overall goal of developing my knowledge and skills in providing nursing services to adult patients. Towards this end, I have developed four objectives that I intend to achieve once I have successfully completed the coursework. The first objective is to put into practice and further the skills acquired so far. The coursework includes practical activities that will enable me interact with patients, family and other medical personnel in a supervised and controlled environment so that I am guided on how to apply the skills in different situations. The second objective is to acquire the capacity to provide holistic care to patients. Interactions with patients through inter-professional teams will enable me understand the different perspectives of health care so that I am not only focused on the nursing perspective while ignoring other perspectives. Through interacting with patients, I expect to develop better appreciation for culture and differences that exist between patients so that I am better able to leverage my knowledge in communicating with patients to develop health behaviors (Boyer et al., 2019).
