Nurses have become key stakeholders in today’s healthcare setting. Over the years, the importance and role have extended beyond delivering patient bedside care to include advocacy and policy implementation. Key projected outcomes include minimal or reduced patient hospitalization due to diabetes-related complications, better life quality and improved glycemic control.

What is the nurse’s role in providing input for the design of this healthcare program? Nurses’ input in the program design entails utilizing their expertise to design specific age group education materials. For example, they can categorize the education material depending on age groups, i.e. older people, working class and adolescents. The identified activities align with the program’s implementation phase, which in turn varies from design.
