Family is a critical element in identity formation and plays a role in shaping one’s perspectives. Personally, family has influenced my way of thought and has made me more resilient and positive, particularly when I encounter challenges in life. Cultural values, communication styles, and familial expectations mold one’s approaches to relationships in a family unit. Asides from that, friendships cultivated influence identities through shared values, interests, and backgrounds, which are also attributing factors to friendship formation. A person’s identity affects the selection of friends and the depth of connections formed. Through a self-reflection, I have found that my friends have influence by identity significantly. I often associate myself with extroverts and people in love with adventures as this is a critical part of me and my interests as well. Besides, I am a Christian and often I find myself hanging around friends with the same religious beliefs. Lastly, identity cannot be separated from how one perceives self. How one sees self is shaped by their experiences, relationships, and society. A strong sense of identity leads to self-awareness and self-confidence.
