            Effective leadership plays a very important role in steering a group of individuals who work with an aim of achieving certain goals in an organization. It does so through enhancing a clear and effective vision and communication for the team members. While leading a team towards working on a project, it would therefore be essential to ensure that each member understands the vision and objectives of the project for each of them to understand their specific roles. The project encompasses numerous diversity issues and hence would require an effective leader.

The leader of choice that I would consider in such a project is Martin Luther King. Martin Luther king was a leader who inspired many people all over the world through his leadership styles and skills towards fighting racism in the US. Some of the styles and skills of leadership portrayed by Martin Luther King include; Transformational leadership, effective communication, confidence, being persistent and passionate, collaborative leadership and confidence among others. Martin Luther king was therefore able to gain trust and support from not only the US citizens, but also people from other parts of the world. The successful leadership of Martin Luther King is attributed to his style of using transformational leadership style towards influencing and inspiring his followers (Giddens, 2018). Transformational is among the powerful leadership styles that makes a leader to oversee a change and influence their followers towards supporting the change. As a project team leader, enhancing an open communication and fostering transparency would be my first task. Achieving this would help to facilitate teamwork, collaboration among team members and fostering trust among the members (Reeves et al., 2017). As part of effective communication, I would also incorporate the art of active listening through welcoming the ideas, issues or concerns from my team members (Boamah, 2018). Allowing team members to express themselves concerning the project plays an important role in the whole process. It is also a way of encouraging creativity and innovation among team members.

In my case as the project leader, transformational leadership is the style that I would adopt. In this type of leadership style, the leader collaboratively works with their team towards change identification, creating the objective and vision and finally implementing the change. The leader at the same time offers a strong support and inspiration to their team members towards achieving the required objectives (Collins et al., 2020). Through incorporating transformation leadership in this project, it would help me to offer support and inspiration to my team members as we collaboratively tackle the diverse issues associated with the project. For instance, we would work towards ensuring that every healthcare provider in our organization is well equipped with cultural competence skills of care through organizing for programs such as educational programs.

In addition to the use of inspirational leadership, I would strive towards incorporating the appropriate behaviors while executing my roles to ensure that they also uphold the correct behaviors while executing their roles considering that the project is more of diversity issues in the organization. After handling some of these diversity issues, the team members would then be following what I do, for them to also do them perfectly. Transformational leadership also utilizes the aspect of motivation. I would motivate the team through different ways such as creating a good workplace environment that would enhance a proper way of achieving our set of objectives.

There are various strengths associated with transformational leadership style. The first strength is fostering teamwork among members thus facilitating the team to work towards a given set of objectives. Through transformational leadership, the leaders are dedicated towards achieving the desired goals and hence offer inspirations and motivations to their members towards achieving the desired goals (Collins et al., 2020). Through these dedicated and passionate leaders, conflicts among members are reduced and the workplace environment made conducive thus speeding up the process of achieving the desired goals. For the purpose of ensuring maximum team collaboration, I would first adopt the available technologies that facilitate team communication for all members. For instance, I would form a platform such as the WhatsApp group where every member addresses their issues or concerns strictly in the platform (Schot, Tummers & Noordegraaf, 2020). Having such a platform helps to foster trust, transparency and open communication among members. I would further recommend all the team members to avail all the information concerning the project’s progress in the platform. Another strategy that I would employ towards maximizing team collaboration is guaranteeing a shared decision-making among the team members (Reeves et al., 2017). Doing so will help every member to feel valued as well as owning the project. I would also engage in duty delegation to every member for each of them to feel valued while making contributions.
