1. After watching the two videos, my initial thoughts and reactions are those of anger and shame. To realize that racism has percolated into the noble medical professions is sickening. Our subconcious biases are making us racially profile and assign specific diagnoses (albeit erroneous) to people of color (Now This News, 2022). By the same token, we are diagnosing (correctly) more White children with ADHD; but conveniently disregarding the same diagnosis (erroneously) in children of color or BIPOC children (Help for ADHD, 2022). I think I agree that subconcious racism and its effects in practice should be taught during training of psychologists and psychiatrists.
2. The source of the reaction was the two YouTube videos watched. The reaction came from the surprise that racism is alive in medical practice too. The two videos were explicit that Black and colored people get quickly dismissed with diagnoses that are not supported by objective data.  Biases And Racism in Psychiatry Essay Assignment
3. I think the implications of my reaction are that I will be more vigilant, and also pass on the sensitization to other colleagues so that they may become aware of the racism phenomenon in practice. I will educate BIPOC patients about this so that they can ask questions. I will call out and shame colleagues who are practicing racism and label them unprofessional. I will engage in advocacy within professional organizations to eradicate this menace. I together with others will lobby institutions to include racism in syllabi.

4. I will have to manage my reaction and its implications in future. I will not let hatred carry me away as well too. Will adopt advocacy and diplomacy. I will mobilize support for sensitization. Lastly, I will try to at least publish an article about this shameful phenomenon in this day and age in medical practice.
