Discussion 4

Discuss the sampling plan that was used in the research article Discuss the advantages and limitations of the sampling plan used by the researchers.

The research study by Tamargo et al. (2021) titled, “Gender Differences in the Effects of Cardiovascular Drugs’’ used the stratified sampling method, which ensures each subgroup within the sample is well represented. The advantages of the stratified sampling method include an accurate reflection of the population being studied; help in reducing standard errors; and the ability to obtain a high degree of precision (Berndt, 2020). The disadvantages of the method are that it cannot be used in all surveys and it can lead to inaccurate research outcomes if the strata are wrongly selected.

Discuss the concept of a representative sample and how you as a researcher would ensure that you were able to recruit a diverse and representative sample.  Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy Discussion Essay

A sample is a subset of the population under study. A representative sample is one in which the characteristics of the participants closely match those of the entire population. The reason why a researcher should ensure the sample is representative is to be able to generalize the findings to a larger population (Berndt, 2020). A researcher can ensure that a diverse and representative sample is recruited by using appropriate sampling methods such as probability and non-probability sampling methods and by ensuring that the sample is large enough to have adequate data to make generalizations.

Discuss the ethical considerations that impact a researcher’s study and sampling plan.

Ethical considerations are a set of principles that researchers must adhere to when collecting data. A researcher must protect the rights of research participants and get approval for the study. Ethical considerations that may impact a researcher’s study include voluntary participation, informed consent, anonymity, and confidentiality (Hasan et al., 2021). Study participants are free to opt in and out of studies at any point, which may affect the sampling plan. Participants have a right to know the benefits, risks, and purpose of the study before they accept or decline to take part. They also have the right to remain anonymous and have their information kept hidden from other unauthorized people. Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy Discussion Essay
