You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.Community Health Nursing-Practice Essay

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.Community Health Nursing-Practice Essay

She stresses that their goal is not to preach to participants, but answer their questions and guide them in finding their own reasons for smoking, wanting to quit and coping mechanisms. This study is also documenting the correlation of depression and smoking. Screening is done by a Lay Health Advisor, (LHA). Participants are not allowed into the program if they are on Chantix, but are allowed to participate if they are on Wellbutrin for depression. Nicotine patches are not distributed to patient until they have passed initial screening and counseling session. Participants are followed for ten weeks and at the end of the program are awarded a certificate and gift cards for gasoline. The second half of this day was spent doing logs, answering phone calls and planning the next day’s activities. Although I was not able to meet any of the participants personally, Linda was able to tell me of one 70 year old gentleman who was able to quit smoking after having been smoking his whole adult life. Another participant had multiple addictions, including street drugs, and although she seemed very committed to the program, and was very honest in her drug use, they were unable to contact her for the last three weeks. The nurse’s role would be to identify community resources that can help to improve these situations, educate families how to avoid exposure and identify signs and symptoms of exposure, and when to seek medical attention.Community Health Nursing-Practice Essay
Other community nursing roles within Spring Mills include helping individual families identify and maintain chronic and acute illnesses, providing education to prevent spread of disease, and identify resources that would prove beneficial for individuals in need of basic resources, such as primary care and basic needs related to leading a healthy lifestyle. This might include financial support, nutritional support, transportation, mental health resources, child education resources, and household safety measures that can be put in place to prevent injury. Many residents of Spring Mills farm their own gardens for food.
