Choose a total of four peer- reviewed articles that you selected related to your clinical topic of interest in Module 2 and Module 3.
Note: You can choose any combination of articles from Modules 2 and 3 for your Critical Appraisal. For example, you may choose two unfiltered research articles from Module 2 and two filtered research articles (systematic reviews) from Module 3 or one article from Module 2 and three articles from Module 3. Based on your appraisal, in a 1-2-page critical appraisal, suggest a best practice that emerges from the research you reviewed. Briefly explain the best practice, justifying your proposal with APA citations of the research.

The best practice identified from the review of literature is the use of complementary medicine coupled with creation of awareness. This approach integrates two interventions to optimize the patient outcomes and ensures their improved safety and quality of life. A study by Khan et al. (2020) stipulates that 75% of the global population uses complementary treatment options to improve their health.
According to Bauer (2020), complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) is composed of treatment that are administered alongside the conventional care of the patient. Similarly, Atkinson (2020) notes that complementary and alternative medicines (CAMs) are currently seeing a wide range of use among cancer patients following multiple previous studies. These medications seek to improve the outcomes of the patient by relieving symptoms which cannot be alleviated by widely accepted medicines making it possible for the patient to undertake their activities of daily living.
Creation of awareness is a means of conveying skills, knowledge or information with the aim of alleviating the safety risks during the use of particular treatment therapies. In this case, patients are empowered to be involved and as well make decisions concerning their own care. This intervention improves their physical and psychological health, satisfaction and health literacy (Atkinson, 2020). As such, this prevents the patients from using unsafe CAMs without their clinician’s knowledge which would otherwise risk their lives. Moreover, creation of awareness improves positive attitudes, knowledge and skills as the providers understand the benefits and risks associated with the drugs and their safe use (Khan et al., 2020). Opperman et al. (2016) also indicates that creation of awareness using education programs is part of professional development and is essential in providing evidence-based practice.
