Type 2 on the other is the most common in the US and is denoted by the body being unable to effectively utilize the produced insulin. The condition is linked to lifestyle. Lastly there is gestational diabetes which develops during pregnancy but usually disappears after delivery. Its influenced by the body’s hormone change.

Type 2 diabetes has been linked to diverse complication in addition to being the most common the country. Different strategies to manage the condition has been devised including dietary approach, change of lifestyle and use of medication such as metformin, meglitinide, glyburide among others (American Diabetes Association, 2017). Metformin comes in liquid and tablets, taken with or after meals according to the physician’s prescription. The metformin drug works by helping the patient’s body respond to insulin decreasing amount of blood sugar. According to Widyahening et al.
