Discussion: Networking Opportunities Essay
In this module, you begin laying the foundation for your academic and professional success. Your efforts begin with a vision that includes your own definition of success. Your vision may vary from those of your colleagues, but this does not mean you have to take these first steps alone.Discussion: Networking Opportunities Essay
Walden University and the College of Nursing also have a vision and mission, which include helping you to make your own vision a reality. My Goals ang University Vision and Mission
I am inspired to be a nurse, after witnessing my grandmother suffering from diabetes as a kid. I have thought of nurses as the people who knows what to do, specially from a nurse who taught me how to change a dressing for my grandmother’s foot. Now, I have been working as a bedside nurse for 4 years and I feel that it is time for me to go for Family Nurse Practitioner. As for my goal, I want to contribute to the society by educating and recommending the best proven treatments healthcare can offer to the general public in an individualized approach based on their need and situation.
I have first started my FNP class in another online University, unfortunately I got overwhelmed between the pandemic, work, schoolwork, family and personal health that I didn’t delivered well on my class and failed. With a broken heart I gathered courage to not give up and look for another school that has more support and availability to students. I was given a contacted by Walden University under Senior Enrollment Specialist, Amanda Flynn. She kept her patience with assisting on explaining the program and by helping me transfer my credits to Walden University in a timely manner, aside from being very empathic and encouraging. With that, I feel that I should not give up and loose hope and I will only be defeated if I myself will give up.Discussion: Networking Opportunities Essay
According to Walden University’s Mission and Vision
I got the inspiration to be a nurse as a small child. This was after witnessing my grandmother undergo immense suffering from diabetes. I have always thought of nurses as professionals who know what to do. I got this opinion from my experience with the nurse who taught me how to change the dressing on my grandmother’s foot. Since realizing the dream of becoming a nurse, I have been working as a bedside nurse for 4 years now. However, I feel that it is time for me to go further in the profession and specialize as an advanced practice registered nurse or APRN. The role that interests me is that of a certified nurse practitioner (CNP), specifically as a Family Nurse Practitioner or FNP (Registered Nursing, 2019). When I first started my FNP class I did so in a different online University platform. Unfortunately, I found the task overwhelming because I could not multitask among the pandemic, employment, coursework, family, and personal health. As a result I could not deliver well and failed. With a broken heart I gathered courage not to give up and looked for another University with better support and availability to students. I was then informed about the Walden University MSN program under Senior Enrolment Specialist, Amanda Flynn with whom I got into contact. She kept her patience with me and assisted a lot by explaining the program and helping me transfer my credits to Walden University in a timely manner. Unlike with the previous university, she was also very empathic and full of encouragement. With that, I feel that I will now be able to actualize my FNP dream. The discussion in this paper is about how the Walden University mission, vision, and goals as well as the university’s MSN program outcomes and perspectives relate to my academic and professional goals.
