Part 2: A Plan for Social Change
In calling for the incorporation of a global perspective into my current practice and role as a nurse leader, I would use approaches such as promoting cultural competence and understanding the impact of global health issues on our community (World Health Organization, 2021). This would be done with the full awareness of the fact that these global issues impact the different communities in comparable ways and solutions developed on an international scale can be replicated or customized to local community organizations. As well, I would also collaborate with international healthcare organizations within which I would advocate for education and training on these topics to help empower my team to address the prevailing local challenges through a broader and better-informed perspective. Citing the work of Tikkanen et al. (2020), the integration of a global perspective would enhance my local nursing practice and leadership by promoting a more inclusive and holistic approach to patient care. Having this in place, it would allow me as a nurse leader in my current organization to better address the diverse needs of our community, consider international best practices, and adapt policies and procedures to reflect global health insights, ultimately improving the quality of care. Notably, this incorporation would positively contribute to social change through the promotion of health equity and awareness of global health disparities (Harville et al., 2022)Global Health Issue Assignment Paper. understanding the impact of global health issues, for example, would allow me to effectively advocate for local policies that address the root causes of health inequalities like socioeconomic disparities and access to care.
