You have identified a high rate of HIV among gay men in your community.

Significant disparities are noted in the incidence rates among Caucasian, African American, and Latino men, with a higher incidence among African Americans, although the incidence among all three groups is high.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.Nursing Case Study Men’s-Health Essay

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.

Men’s health is defined as the holistic management of health conditions and risks that are most common or specific to men in order to promote optimal physical, emotional and social health’. Male sexual health is important, however, men’s health goes beyond sexual and reproductive health (The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners 2007). Skills are developed by nurses allowing them to treat patients in all of the different levels of disease prevention. By conducting a patient health assessment a nurse can then begin to promote health and illness prevention by assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating the patient to better help their current health concerns and /or issues (Berman et al. 2010). It is within the assessment stage that Gordon’s’ functional health patterns are used as a guide for establishing a comprehensive nursing data base for this patient. The body systems model is appropriate as it focuses on abnormalities of the anatomic system including the, integumentary system, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, nervous system, musculoskeletal system, gastrointestinal system, genitourinary system, reproductive system and immune system. The 11 categories make possible a systematic and standardised approach to data collection, and enable the nurse to determine the following aspects of health and human function (Berman et al. 2010). The diagnosis of testicular cancer in men is commonly found by the discovery of a lump on a testicle, as in this case or that the testicles are notably swollen or larger. Sometimes the lump can cause pain, but most of the time it is not painful. In some men with testicular cancer they may mention a feeling of heaviness or aching in the lower abdomen or scrotum (Cancer.org 2011). A physical exam will be undertaken by an urologist and to confirm the diagnosis of a solid mass found a scrotal ultrasound is used. The case study I have chosen to analyse is the Men’s Health Case Study. The dilemma being faced by Mr Kerton and the Men’s Health production team is one of ensuring the success of the magazine in a relatively young, dynamic and exciting environment in which there are no barriers to entry and new competitors are able to enter. In this particular instance Mr. Kerton is somewhat concerned about the entry of Maxim magazine and the possible entry of Esquire magazine into the men’s lifestyle magazine market.Nursing Case Study Men’s-Health Essay

Situational analysis
Men’s health is international magazine started in America in 1988. Riding on the success of the magazine in America the magazine moved into the British, Australian, Latin American, German and Russian magazine markets. The magazine was launched in South Africa in mid 1997 at a point in time when it was deemed that the South African market was ready for such a magazine.

The South African male magazine market was ripe for a new, fresh and focused magazine catering specifically for men, as the girlie magazines that used to dominate the male magazine market in the country were in decline, leaving behind a gap for a male magazine. The decline in the girlie magazine market in South Africa was primarily due to the markets heavy reliance on sex, nudity, violence and controversy. Several copies of Scope had been banned and certain stockists had stopped stocking magazines such as Scope. In addition, the liberalisation of censorship laws and the trade situation with the country resulted in the return of previously banned magazines such as Playboy and Penthouse which further increase the competition between the girlie magazines, making the content more and more controversial.Nursing Case Study Men’s-Health Essay
