While Google definitely provides a wealth of information, this sometimes isn’t worth spending the time sifting through the data. It doesn’t offer all the information that students are looking for and information found there may not be very reliable. It makes your question that quality and the authenticity of the information from search engines such as this one. Scholarly resources are best to use in research as it provides solid and reliable information.Nursing Health Sciences Essay

Sunshine:
Within the GCU Library there are many databases available to help with research particularly as it relates to nursing.
First there is the PubMed database. This database includes over 20 million literature resources including health care, nursing, psychology and other health sciences (GCU, 2019). This website is great because it is maintained by three large entities the National Institutes of Health, National Library of Medicine and the National Center for Biotechnology Information. In order for an article, book or other media to be published in this database these three entities must approve it first. This means that the information contained on this database will be more reliable than with google scholar or a general internet search.Nursing Health Sciences Essay
Another database available on the GCU library is the Cochrane Library. This database has the benefit of containing six separate databases that are all reliable an have evidence based information. One for the six databases is the leading source of systematic reviews used in healthcare. This is a tremendous resource available to the students of GCU.
Terria,
The two databases I have used while at GCU are CINAHL (Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health) Complete and Cochrane Library. I was introduced to them during my Introduction to nursing research class. These databases were found to be a great resource in the evidence-based research this class required. The CINAHL Complete is most helpful for nursing, sciences, health care administration, counseling and psychology. This site also has an evidence-based care sheet that includes 150 different diseases/conditions, that summarizes what is known and the latest treatments. I have also seen diagnosis codes including ICD-9 and ICD-10 on them. Cochrane library is “considered the gold standard for determining the relative effectiveness of different interventions” (Cochrane Library, 2019). It involves regular up to date evidence-based research that collects and analyze different trials regarding a particular subject. It will also give recommendations for treatment based on these findings.Nursing Health Sciences Essay
Scholarly resources are known as academic or peer-reviewed sources that are the most up to date information. For these reasons they are much more reliable than Google or general Internet search. They are written by and for faculty, researchers or scholars, in the language of the discipline, per reviewed before publication, and always includes citations. Non-scholarly resources include information written by journalist or writers with a general audience in mind, non-technical language, no review by peers, and rarely if any citations (How Do I Decide if a Source is Scholarly n.d.). Grand Canyon University offers their students several databases they can choose from to complete their work worry free. This is one more resource I feel GCU offers to ensure their students succeed.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.Nursing Health Sciences Essay
Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.
The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.Nursing Health Sciences Essay
Nursing is a systematic science which encompasses intellectual and practical activities that study the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world of caring for diseased patients in a hospital or clinical setting through observation and experiment. The issue about the difference between the “Nursing Science” and “Science of Nursing” had recently been addressed at a meeting of international scholars in Europe when the discussion of the idea of advancing nursing knowledge was held. Most of the attended personnel at the conference were certain that “Nursing Science” connotes and denotes the unique aggregation of knowledge planted in the extant nursing structure and theories that is developed continuously through research and creative conceptualization. On the other hand, in discussing the expression “Science of Nursing”, the precision in defining it was not so clear. It definitely did not seem to have the same meaning as nursing science. Many participants seemed to believe that the construct “Science of Nursing” was related to government or other agencies funded projects of research that focus on the concern with attributes and characteristics of disease-related situations in populations and with issues surrounding healthcare systems. Broome (2014) seemed to agree when she wrote about the nursing research “funding dilemma.” She said in her editorial, “Revisioning the Science of Nursing,” that nurse scientists study health problems and generate “knowledge, interventions, and measurement models for important health issues, such as transitions of care, caregiving stress and stress management, improving quality of life in chronic illness, pain assessment and management Nursing Health Sciences Essay
