INSTRUCTIONS:

As stated in the syllabus present your assignment in an APA format word document, Arial 12 font. A minimum of 3 evidence-based references besides the class textbook no older than 5 years must be used and quoted according to APA guidelines and must be from a gerontology journal. A minimum of 800 words is required. Please make sure to follow the instructions as given and use either spell-check or Grammarly before you post your assignment. I will also pay close attention to spelling and/or grammar. Please review the rubric attached to the lecture. You must present the assignment according to how it is posted, answering the questions by number.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.Nursing: Senior Health Essay
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.

Health is a major issue in the United States, but Americans are mainly focusing on the health of the younger population. Even though the younger population is important, it would not do any harm if Americans took the time out and focus on the Older population. In other words, Americans should pay homage to our Senior citizens, because without their wisdom and experience there would not be much to cherish. Older citizens are often the back bone of society. According to the World Health Organization’s website, “The world is rapidly ageing. While this is an important challenge for the developed world, 70% of all older people now live in low or middle-income countries. Nursing: Senior Health Essay
Thus, health implies an interaction and integration of body, mind, and spirit, a perspective that is reflected in the growth of health promotion programs with the elderly” (Hooymon and Kiyak 144). With that being said, health is not just a physical condition; it also include mental and emotional aspects, as well. Elderly people “who keep their minds active and learn to manage the stress in their lives generally experience better health,” according to Charles B. Inlander. There are many ways to help elderly people remain in good health, but Americans will have to continue to work together in order to implement in the positive changes for the elderly in our society. The first step in improving the elderly in society is keeping them in good health through exercising. As claimed by Robert Gingold, “Increasing physical activity by starting an exercise program or simply becoming more active as part of the daily routine can have a profound effect on fitness, vitality, and length of life. Fit people are stronger, more mobile, and more energetic. A number of illnesses including heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis are prevented by exercise. It also improves emotional and psychological health, with fitter people having a more positive outlook on life and higher self esteem ” (Gingold 14). Nursing: Senior Health Essay

This means they will have a much briefer opportunity ti build the infrastructure necessary to address this demographies trend”(Our Ageing World). Now that the elder population is increasing the main focus should be on the elderly and spending more time taking care of their needs. In that case, Americans need to take Senior Citizens well-being more seriously than considering it as a non-factor.
Older people have an impact on today’s society. In addition, The World Health Organization states, “ The ageing of population represent as well an opportunity for societies. If older people can retain their health, and if they live in an environment that promotes their active participation, their experience, skills and wisdom will be without any doubts a resource for societies. However, most people of very advances will be needing accessible and effective acute and long term care” (Our Ageing World 2011). Nursing: Senior Health
