Over the past 20years new products like e- cigarettes have emerged and little cigars have become more popular , which thraeten the progress made . These products are using fruit , candy , mint andmenthol flavors to addict new generationto tobacco. According to a Fderal Trade Commision report in 2020 , cigarette sale increased for the first time in 20years .Smoke laws in 2003 only two states had comprehensive smoke free laws . and today , 28 states have these laws protecting their residents from secondhand smoke .Say for an example , Tobacco in Texas , the avorage tax increased from &0.62 in January 2003 to & 1.91 in January 2022. The American Lung Association is the leading organization working to save lives by improving health and preventing lung disease through education , adovacy and research( American Lung Association 2022) The US Food and Drug Administration can now regulate the sale of synthetic Nicotine Policy and Advocacy for Improving Population Health

In 2019 more than 27% of high school student reported using e- cigarettes during the past month ,as compared with about 6% who reported using combustile cigaretters . Use of Juul products accounts for much of the doubling of vaping rates between 2017 and 2019 , and these products represents 75% of the multibillion- dollars e- cigarette market . The growth in vaping among young people has alarmed policymakers and many others ..Federal and state government have implimented numerious policies to combate the growth of vaping . To promote the health of the population , however , policies should protect young people without diminishing the of the ability of e-cigaretters to help adult smokers transition away from more harmful combustible cigarettes or to serve as a cessation aid for people attempting to quit smoking (Jody L.
