You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.Public Health Nursing Essay
Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.
The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.Public Health Nursing Essay
Community and Public Health Nursing Journal 2
Summary
Some of the most gratifying things about being a nurse is the distinctive role we have with those we care for. Our role encourages openness and transparency for clients and their families to reveal things to us they may not be willing to say under most circumstances. Furthermore, nursing is a life path that comes with incalculable responsibilities to be both a compassionate health care provider and a conscientious advocate. This semester I had the opportunity to experience nursing from the perspective of a Community Health Nurse in Montclair, California. It has given me a chance to practice these responsibilities in different ways. It has also given me a new perspective on nursing.Public Health Nursing Essay
As a Community Health Nursing student, I have had the opportunity to learn many new topics and to practice in the community. Most recently, I had the opportunity to interact with the senior citizens of the Montclair Senior Center. There I helped to screen blood pressures and serum glucose levels. I was able to do teaching on pre-hypertension and hypertension in addition to pre-diabetes and diabetes education. I was able to provide this teaching in English and Spanish. I learned that in order to successfully do a screening, the community health nurse must target a group that is accessible and easily identifiable through a contained place, like the senior center.
In addition, I have continued to gain insight into the community through observation and research in the past weeks. I have learned more about places like the Montclair Youth Opportunity Center, which is a trendy hub for many young people during the summer or after school during the school year.
