What is the value of studying the humanities in the field of health professions?

Humanities is the study of aspects of human culture and society such as philosophy, language, history, philosophy, religion, and the performing and fine arts. It helps us understand other people in terms of their cultural beliefs and practices and relate to them well. Integration of the humanities into the health sciences will prepare the students to understand how human beings function, feel, and act in various conditions. Humanities help in understanding human relations, a significant factor in building and maintaining relationships. Healthcare professionals need to build rapport and establish healthy provider-patient engagements to provide effective care. Also, the previous people’s experiences will promote professional and economic growth as people are empowered to hold onto their human lives even in challenging times.

One aspect of the humanities that is meaningful to my personal life is learning other people’s art and culture. Visits to museums and ancient buildings help me see the architectural arts created based on people’s culture and religious beliefs.
