The Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory plays an important role towards revealing how operations run in most workplace environments, hence exposing the truth in the most serious manner. From the revealed score of 52 obtained within my workplace environment, it is evident that the organization is experiencing a significant problem. From the evaluation that was conducted, it revealed multiple disagreement levels hence stressing on the importance of a more professional workplace environment. Civil workplaces are easily identified through features such as respect among workers, effective and efficient communication as well as a culture that fosters support (Clark, 2019). However, the score obtained from this inventory contradicts these features. Despite incivility being obvious in our organization, it has greatly damaged the foundation of our organization, hence impacting morale and productivity decrease. This is evident through the numerous cases of strained workers’ relationships, increased levels of stress among employees, and lack of satisfaction among employees.
There are multiple reasons that have impacted incivility in our organization. To begin with, lack of proper communication channels among employees that in most cases impact misunderstandings as well as conflicts is a common problem (Clark, 2019). Furthermore, employees lack empathy among themselves as well as disregarding the ideas and perspectives of their colleagues, hence impacting an environment of conflicting beliefs that in most cases are addressed with anger (McDermott et al., 2021). One vivid occurrence of incivility occurred recently during a staff meeting where one colleague decided to disregard my thoughts without providing their reason. Instead of providing a solid reason, he started uttering patronizing comments. The fact that he failed to consider my thoughts negatively impacted my self-assurance as well as harming the work relationship that we shared. To solve the issue on time, I decided to utilize a courteous approach. As such I decided to organize a confidential discussion with this colleague to address the impact of their action as well as the need for maintaining utmost respect while working. Furthermore, adopting precise procedures of communication as well as adopting an appreciation culture is necessary.
