Description of personal worldview

My personal worldview is the basis of my decision-making frameworks. It is of significance in determining how I make sense of the world and gain insight into my reality. My personal worldview acts as the link between my ethical beliefs and actions. In addition, it allows me to integrate my cultural, religious and spiritual elements and principles into a single framework that offers meaningful and unified awareness of the opportunities and challenges in my life (Dominguez, 2020).

I am a member of the Christian religious faith, and may faith acts as the basis of my personal worldview. I rely on the Bible to guide my life and believe that it has all the answers for the questions in my life to include moral and ethical questions. The Bible is the word of God, divinely presented by God with instructions on how all humans should live their life in order to be worthy of the life intended by God. Through basing all my life decisions on the Bible, I am able to make the right decisions that ensure I have a meaningful life that I would be proud of even as I stand before God at the end of my life. Even as a nurse whose life is suffused with scientific principles and rules, I believe that God is my creator, has dominion over everything, and sets the rules of life. The scientific principles and rules are simply our (human) way of trying to make sense of what God created. As a believer in God’s power and might as the creator, I live to serve God by observing all the instructions presented in the Bible. Additionally, I am of the belief that the time humans spend on earth is simply a test to determine who is worthy to get into heaven. Every human will face judgement upon death whereby God will determine who is worthy of getting into heaven. This awareness has informed all the decisions made in my life and helps me to justify using the Bible as the basis of my decisions since I am intent on being worthy of a place in heaven. Besides that, I believe that God sent his son, Jesus Christ, to earth to present an opportunity for all humans to gain salvation. Christ lived on earth as a human being, was persecuted without sin and died on the cross at Calvary to atone for the sins of all humans.  Worldview and Nursing Theory Essay.Christ remained dead for three days as he fought to gain dominion over the realm of the dead before resurrecting and ascending into heaven where he prepares a place for all Christians worthy of salvation. The actions of Christ as a sacrifice ended up saving and redeeming Christians from the original sin of Adam and Eve where were cast out of Eden. I expect that following the instructions of God presented in the Bible and living the life intended by Christ will make me worthy of a life in heaven. As such, I consider the Bible as God’s divine word that acts as the true foundation of my life (Miller, 2020).

Although I consider the Bible as the foundation of my life, I accept that I live in a multicultural world where not every person is a Christian. The multicultural world presents me with common laws that allow me to navigate different everyday situations. I respect these common laws and use them to resolve conflicts between professional and Christian principles, although this is as afar as they do not violate my core Christian beliefs. To be more precise, the Bible is the foundation of my life and helps me in making decisions, but I am influenced by the existing principles, regulations, rules, laws and cultures (O’Brien, 2014). In this respect, my personal worldview makes use of the Bible as my foundation and incorporates the existing relevant principles, regulations, standards and laws to make decisions in my everyday life.

Nursing theory aligned with personal philosophy of practice and approach to patient care

The nursing theory aligned with my personal philosophy of practice and approach to patient care is the Theory of Human Caring presented by Jean Watson. This theory acknowledges that caring principles and concepts are the foundation of nursing practice, and help in ensuring that the practice is both efficient and effective. The theory notes that every nurse must express concern and kindness as foundational principles when interacting with other stakeholders to includes patients. Expressing these foundational principles helps in facilitating communication efforts, and understanding and meeting existing needs (Watson, 2018). Worldview and Nursing Theory Essay.

I specifically recognize the value of the ten curative factors as important elements for enabling nurses to express caring principles. The first curative factor is kindness and altruistic values. This factor helps me to genuinely embrace my patients, understand their care needs and ensure that the provided nursing care meets these needs. The second curative factor is belief in nursing care as providing what the patients need. This factor helps to inspire patients to seek nursing care, and helps to inspire nurses to offer the required care. The third curative factor is understanding that nursing care is based on helpful relationships. This factor helps to improve the value of interactions between nurses and patients. The fourth curative factor is trust in relationships and that every stakeholder will do their part. This factor helps in ensuring that nurses focus on their roles and responsibilities while trusting that other stakeholders will do the same. The fifth curative factor is accepting innocent mistakes and having a forgiving attitude. This factor helps in accepting feelings and genuinely listening to the opinions of other stakeholders. The sixth curative factor is involvement in professional practice. This factor helps nurses to have a keen interest in evidence-based practice and the use of current information to guide decision-making. The seventh curative factor is balancing the needs of all stakeholders. This factor helps in ensuring that the needs of nurses are balanced with the needs of patients and other stakeholders. The eighth factor is co-creating a healing environment that respects dignity. This factor helps in balancing the spiritual and physical wellbeing of all stakeholders. The ninth factor is ministering to the basic emotional, physical and spiritual needs. This factor helps in keeping patients and nurses balanced. The tenth factor is openness to possibilities. This factor helps nurses to accept occurrences that cannot be explained by scienc e to include miracles and mysteries (Sitzman & Watson, 2018).

Alignment between personal worldview and nursing theory to assist in developing future practice

The Theory of Human Caring and my personnel worldview will assist me to develop future practice through acting as the basis for my decisions. The two (theory and personal worldview) are aligned in guiding me to lead a meaningful life. They help me to have clear professional goals while remaining open to changes along the way. Besides that, they help me to accept that nurses serve God by providing medical care and serving others. In seeking to serve God, I am motivated to leverage and use my nursing knowledge, skills and capabilities to improve the lives of others (Lee, Palmieri & Watson, 2016). This awareness has motivated me to seek higher professional qualifications through nursing education, and take on greater responsibilities and more roles. I am intent on improving my capacity as a nurse, and justifying this as an opportunity to better serve God. Worldview and Nursing Theory Essay.
