Developing a Culture of Evidence Based-Practice: Response

Evidence-based interventions have become common in healthcare organizations. Implementing evidence-based practice enables healthcare organizations to achieve the desired outcomes (Melnyk, 2018). Effective dissemination strategies enhance the delivery of available scientific evidence to the target audience (Melnyk, 2017). I would utilize poster and unit-level presentations to disseminate the results of a change project. The unit-level presentations will support sharing reliable evidence with other staff members during the departmental meetings. Additionally, posters will be placed in strategic areas within the unit, facilitating sharing of essential data. Therefore, these dissemination strategies will result in the change desired in the clinical practice. Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing Essay Paper

On the other hand, dissemination strategies that I am less likely to use are social media platforms and policy briefs. Social media platforms such as Facebook are declined since they contain distorted and biased information. Therefore, information shared via socio-media platforms will likely mislead staff while implementing a change project. Social media also contains inaccurate health information, which requires the audience to evaluate. Additionally, policy briefs are declined since they are only appropriate when targeting audiences with advanced health literacy due to complex data visualization strategies (Jones, 2019). Thus, the general public would not understand the proposed EBP if the information was disseminated via policy briefs.

However, preferred dissemination strategies are faced with some barriers. First, the unit-level presentation will be delivered verbally. Hence, the target audience would miss essential information due to distractions during the presentation. This barrier can be overcome by making a verbal presentation when distractions are minimal to ensure the message reaches the target audience. Additionally, the target audience might need more time for essential information presented via posters (Melnyk, 2018). This barrier can be overcome by making posters appealing and attractive to capture the target audience’s attention, making them understand the intended message. Review the Resources and reflect on the various strategies presented throughout the course that may be helpful in disseminating effective and widely cited EBP.
This may include: unit-level or organizational-level presentations, poster presentations, and podium presentations at organizational, local, regional, state, and national levels, as well as publication in peer-reviewed journals. Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing Essay Paper
Reflect on which type of dissemination strategy you might use to communicate EBP.
Post at least two dissemination strategies you would be most inclined to use and explain why. Explain which dissemination strategies you would be least inclined to use and explain why. Identify at least two barriers you might encounter when using the dissemination strategies you are most inclined to use. Be specific and provide examples. Explain how you might overcome the barriers you identified. Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing Essay Paper
